Josep TREPAT GALCERAN

Born 1881, L'Aladrell (Agramunt, Lleida).

Died 1881, Málaga.

In 1907 Josep Trepat Galceran opened an ironmongers business with his brothers. In 1914 he set up on his own with a workshop making nails and began to import reapers. In 1915 he extended the workshop with a small foundry to make pales, pulleys ans other tools. From here the legendary history of the Trepat factory in Tàrrega began. Additionally to his entrepreneur condition, Josep Trepat Galceran was well known for sponsoring charity and culture activities. His love for modern art and his international business contacts allowed him comission jobs to some of the photography masters of the time and collect their work. The Trepat Collection of Modern Photography is composed of more than 4,500 pieces
