Cat Tuong NGUYEN

Born in 1969 in Ban Me Thuot, Vietnam.

Lives and works in Zurich.

Cat Tuong Nguyen left Vietnam in 1981 to emigrate to Switzerland. He studied psychology and philosophy at the University of Berne. In 1991, he started to practise photography. He then quit University to dedicate his time to his passion and went to Zurich to study photography at the School of Art and Design in 1993.

After graduating in 1998, he regularly exhibited his photographs in Switzerland and elsewhere.

His work has changed quite a lot in the last years, he has given up the sole focus on photography, and is now willing to use other media like collage, painting and installation.

Cat Tuong Nguyen presented his work at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2007: Homunkulus, Firecrackers and oils at the Atelier de Maintenance.
