Vanessa WINSHIP
Born in 1960 in United Kingdom. Lives between London and Istanbul.
After studying cinema and photography at the Westminster University (Polytechnic of Central London), Vanessa started by teaching photography, and then worked for the National Science Museum of London. She then became a freelance photographer, working on long term projects such as Albanian landscape, Children in competition and Black sea, project published in 2007. In 1998 she was awarded first prize in the “Arts” category of the World Press Photo competition. And in 2003, she received an honourable mention in the Oscar Barnack competition for her Albanian landscapeproject and the first prize at the World Press Photo in 2008 in the « Portraits » category. In 2008, she was also named “Photographer of the Year” at the Sony World Photography Awards.
She joined the Vu’ Agency in 2005 and lives between London and Istanbul, and continues working in the Balkans and in Turkey.
