Attila DURAK

Born in 1967 in Turkey. Lives in New York and Istanbul.
Finalist in the Anna Lindh European Foundation Award for Intercultural Dialogue in 2008 for his project Ebru: Reflections of Cultural Diversity in Turkey.
In 1996 in New York, he attended classes at the School of Visual Arts and the Fine Arts Department of Hunter College, as well as many workshops at the International Center of Photography. Many magazines, newspapers and catalogues have published his documentary photographs from projects in Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Greece, Spain, Hungary, the United Kingdom, Peru, Canada and the United States. He has also expanded the creative possibilities of experimental photography. Beyond Turkey, the “Ebru” exhibition has been presented in the United States in New York (Soho Gallery, 2007) and Memphis (May International Festival, 2008); in Germany at the Frankfurt Book Fair (2008) and in Leipzig (2008), Duisburg and Rinteln (2009); in Basel, Switzerland (2008). In France, the Rencontres Photographiques d’Arles will kick off an exhibition tour to coincide with the publication of the French version of the book by Actes Sud, and with the Turkish Cultural Season (July 2009 to March 2010).
