Boris MIKHAILOV

Born in 1938 in Kharkov, former USSR. 
Lives and works in Berlin and Kharkov.
Visiting lecturer at the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard, Boris Mikhailov has held exhibitions at the ICA in Boston, the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg, Sweden, the Centre de la Photographie in Paris and the NCCA in Moscow. Among the awards he has received are the Coutts Contemporary Art Foundation Award (Zurich) for the books By the Ground and At Dusk; the 2000 Rencontres d’Arles Photography Book Award; the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography (Gothenburg, Sweden) in 2000; the Kraszna-Krausz Book Award for the best photography book (London) in 2001; and the General Satellite Corporation (Moscow) art prize for his contribution to the development of contemporary Russian art in 2003.
