The film’s director proposed this short, never-before-seen version of Le Photosophe, des instants avec Frank Horvatfor the Rencontres d’Arles. It’s about the intellectual path that led the artist to cast a critical glance at his photographs and what surrounded him.

At the Croisière, the documentary film platform Tënk will screen shorts at the crossroads between photography and cinema.

CHET’S ROMANCE

This film about a light beam falling in love with a musical note also pays tribute to musician Chet Baker. The music of a legend, the portrait of a romance.

Aída Esther Bueno Sarduy, 17 mn, 2019.
The son of a well-to-do Havana family recalls the lasting memory left by his nanny, a black woman named Guillermina who raised him in the 1940s.
6 FARMS. A FILM FROM MY PARISH

The film is comprised of six stories from six farms, in County Tipperary, Ireland. It was produced using a digital camera and a minidisc recorder.

GISÈLE FREUND, INTIMATE PORTRAIT OF A VISIONARY PHOTOGRAPHER
Teri Wehn-Damisch, 52 mn, 2021.
A portrait of Franco-German photographer, sociologist and writer Gisèle Freund, who fled Nazi Germany in 1933 for Paris, where she pioneered color portraits of artists and writers. One of the few woman reporters who joined Magnum at its creation, she was both a player and a thinker about photography. The film features her unpublished photographs, contact sheets, reportages and writings.
