PJ HARVEY & SEAMUS MURPHY
THE HOLLOW OF THE HAND
Between 2011 and 2014, artist PJ Harvey and photojournalist Seamus Murphy travelled to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington DC. The relationship between these three places, and between Harvey’s poems and Murphy’s pictures, led to The Hollow of the Hand, a book Harvey will read from at the Théâtre Antique.
Based on a proposal by Maya Masseboeuf & Les Garçons Sauvages.
9 DAYS - FROM MY WINDOW IN ALEPPO
Film by Floor van der Meulen et Thomas Vroege
One morning in August 2012, a Syrian photographer Issa Touma saw young men lugging sandbags into his street.
It turned out to be the start of the Syrian uprising in the city of Aleppo. He grabbed his camera and spent nine days holed up in his apartment, recording what was happening outside.
DON MCULLIN
Considered one of the late 20th century’s greatest war photographers, Don McCullin took hundreds of emblematic, decisive shots of conflicts in Vietnam, Cyprus, Beirut and Biafra. Echoing the exhibition at the Église Sainte-Anne, this event reminds us that he is quite simply a great photographer and that there is something universal about his way of showing us the world we live in.
With the complicity of Robert Pledge, Director of the agency Contact Press Images.
2016 PHOTO FOLIO REVIEW WINNER
With support from YellowKorner.
