The Board of Directors and the entire Rencontres d'Arles team congratulate Sam Stourdzé, the festival’s director, on his appointment as head of the Académie de France-Villa Médicis in Rome.

For six years, he has breathed new life into the festival by fostering dialogue between photography and contemporary art, music, architecture and literature, by boosting attendance and by expanding the network of regional and international partners.

In the same spirit, he will be in charge of the Rencontres d'Arles 2020.

We are delighted for him and wish him good luck in his new position.

We would like to thank him for his tremendous work on behalf of photography over the last six years as head of the Rencontres d'Arles.
