On Monday July 1, Minister of Culture Franck Riester opened the 50th Rencontres d’Arles accompanied by former culture ministers Jack Lang, Aurélie Filipetti and Françoise Nyssen.

Under the sign of celebration, the festival paid homage to its founders, in particular by affixing a plaque in honor of Lucien Clergue.
The festival has always supported young artists and this year opening week was the occasion to inaugurate the new buildings of the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie by the minister of culture and its new director, Marta Gili.

Carrying on its trailblazing spirit, the Rencontres opened a new venue near the train station, the Garden, which hosted an outdoor show for the first time.
The Rencontres features Lebanon’s culinary riche at Tawlet, the gastronomic and solidarity canteen at Croisière.

See you next year at the 51st edition!
