Women In Motion LAB

Launched at the same time as the Women In Motion Award for Photography, the Women In Motion LAB will accompany, in the first years, a project to promote the role women have played in the world history of photography.

This project, led by historians Luce Lebart and Marie Robert, will shed light on the journey and work of some 300 women on every continent who have marked photography since its inception. It will call on contributors from all over the world. At the heart of the project directors' approach is the recognition of these women photographers about whom too little is said.

A special place will be given to women who have played a major role in the development of photography: collectors, gallery owners, curators, conservators, journalists, publishers, writers and art critics.

This work will result in the publication of a book in collaboration with the Éditions Textuel.

In March 2019, Kering and Les Rencontres d'Arles announced the launch in Arles of the Women In Motion program with the aim of contributing to the recognition of women photographers and gender equality in this artistic field.
