Citizen is a lived photographic project of Johannesburg. Much disinformation towards Johannesburg comes from decades of segregation in South Africa, the CBD once being a common place for white South Africans to congregate had since become a sprawling African city. Jonathan Wood decided to focus on everyday Johannesburg, navigating the underworld had taught him skills on the streets opening up a unique opportunity to photograph the everyday happenings. Harsh realities intertwine with beautiful street narratives, the two live side by side. This is the full experience of living in Johannesburg and the complexity experienced as a Citizen.
