After studying ecology and botany, Tadashi Ono graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, where he has been teaching since 2017. His photographic work questions various forms of modern civilisation and their representations. Since 2011, he has been documenting the transformation of the coastal landscapes of Tohoku, the north-eastern region of Japan devastated by the tsunami. He also explores the transformation of public space following the 2013 political event in Istanbul's Gezi Park. His work is regularly exhibited in Europe and Japan, including at the Villa Noailles in Hyères, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo and the KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival in Kyoto.
