Peter Klasen
Born in 1935 in Lübeck. Lives and works in Paris.
Peter Klasen’s childhood was profoundly marked by the Second World War. After studying at the Kunsthochschule in Berlin, he opted for photography and in 1959 moved to Paris, where he created his first collages. Some years later he took part in his first group exhibition Image à Cinq Branches at the Mathias Fels gallery in Paris. His work was also included in the historic Mythologies quotidiennes exhibition at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, which gave rise to the Narrative Figuration movement of which he was one of the founders. Since then he has exhibited regularly in Brazil, Cuba, the United States, France and elsewhere. In 2009 curator Pascal Le Thorel presented a retrospective of his work at the Tri Postal in Lille and LAAC in Dunkirk.
