Anni Leppälä
Born in 1981 in Helsinki. Lives and works in Helsinki.
Leppälä studied photography at the Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences (BA) and at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki (MA). Her works have been shown in several exhibitions both in Finland and abroad, she has taken part in group exhibitions (Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in 2006, Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg in 2009 and Museo Thyssen- Bornemisza in 2011). Her recent solo exhibitions have been at the Barbara Gross gallery in Munich (2011), VB-Photographic Centre in Kuopio (2011) and at the TH13 gallery in Bern (2011). In 2010, she was awarded the Finnish Young Artist of the Year art award, the Tampere Art Museum presented the first comprehensive museum exhibition of her work and published a book of her photographs. Her works are included in collections such as the Deutsche Bank Collection, Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, the Finnish Museum of Photography, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art and EMMA Museum of Modern Art.
