Nikolai Bakharev
Born in 1946 in Siberia. Lives and works in Siberia.
At the age of four, on the death of his parents, Nikolai Bakharev was placed in an orphanage. He was a mechanic in the steel industry and in 1970 began photographing the inhabitants of Novokuznetsk for the administrative centre of the city. Since 1991 he has been a member of the Russian Union of Art Photographers. He has taken part in several exhibitions in Russia and abroad. His works are in many private and museum collections, including the Multimedia Art Museum (Moscow), the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center (University of Texas, Austin), and the Southeast Museum of Photography (Daytona Beach, Florida). He is represented by the Regina Gallery (London, Moscow).
