Paul Ronald
Paul Ronald was born in 1924 in Hyères, France. He died in 2015 in Gap, France.
No sooner had he left secondary school than Paul Ronald plunged into the film world of Nice. There he met the photographer G.R. Aldo, who would become one of italian film’s greatest cinematographers. After two years as a combat photographer with the Allies, Ronald assisted Aldo on Jean Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast, then became a unit still photographer. He worked with renowned directors such as Jean Delannoy, Luchino Visconti, Augusto Genina, and Federico Fellini, notably on his film 8 1⁄2. In 1994, finally, he collaborated with Franco Zeffirelli on his film Sparrow.
