Georges Tony STOLL

Born in 1955 in Marseille. Lives and works in Paris.
Georges Tony Stoll is born in 1955 in Marseille. He lives and works in Paris.
He attended the school of fine arts in Marseille (ESBAM) where he was influenced by the teaching of Joël Kermarec and Tony Grand. He left without graduating, and embarked on an artistic pathway with initiatory journeys in Germany and the United States. A painter, then a photographer and video artist, who also works as a film production designer, Georges Tony Stoll’s oeuvre is a fertile dialogue between all of these disciplines. His to-ing and fro-ing between painting, photography, illustration and writing yield works that occupy “the territory of abstraction”, a space where multiple possibilities and ambiguities can arise at any moment. These photographs remain deliberately enigmatic, composed of figures, bodies, everyday objects, and mundane and often organic forms, all easily identifiable. Bodies, colours, forms, objects, paintings and photos are linked without hierarchy, at the risk of producing absurd configurations.
His work was has been shown at Galerie Jennifer Flay and at Agnès b's gallery. He is now represented by Galerie Serge le Borgne, Paris.
