Born 1890, Philadelphia, United States. Died 1976, Paris, France.
Friends with Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray arrived in Paris in 1921. He moved to Montparnasse as a photographer, along with his companion, the model Kiki. At the center of the surrealist group, he experimented with the photogram and solarization, and published in La Révolution Surréaliste and Minotaure. He returned to the United States in 1940, where he once again took up painting, moving back to France in 1951, once and for all.
