Juan Fernando Herrán has a BFA (Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá) and a MFA in Sculpture (Chelsea College of Art, London). He has participated in the Biennials of Venice, Istanbul, Liverpool, São Paulo, Havana and Johannesburg. Selected solo exhibitions include the Museo de la Universidad Nacional, Bogotá; NC-arte, Bogotá; Magda Bellotti Gallery, Madrid; and Metales Pesados, Santiago de Chile. His work uses photography, sculpture, and installations to examine social and political events or cultural phenomena related to the definition of territory or the formation and operation of structures of power which define the identity of specific communities or of the nation.
