Silin Liu grew up in Beijing. She graduated from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 with a BA in Photography, before completing an MFA in Photography at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. In 2015, she took part in the exhibition and publication of the reGeneration³ project at the Musée de l‘Elysée in Lausanne, and participated in TOP20: Cutting-Edge Contemporary Chinese Photography. Her solo project I’m Everywhere received the Discovery Award at the Jimei x Arles International Photography Festival in 2016,  and she held her first solo exhibition, The Artist Is Online, at the Yangtze River Museum of Contemporary Art the same year.
