Nanténé Traoré

Born in 1993, by the sea.
Lives and works in Paris, France.
Nanténé Traoré tells stories with words and images. His aim is to create a living documentation of the present and a new iconography of the intimate. Sensitive to representations of transgender people, his portraits detach themselves from sensationalism, instead seeking to share a daily life devoid of artifice. In his work, he unfolds stories of tenderness, transmission, and freedom, told through bodies in motion, de-standardised and volatile. Thus, the artist creates a universe made up of a succession of haunting images, gestures and words repeated ad infinitum, in an attempt to get closer to individual narratives, where the story of the other becomes the universal story.
