A self-taught photographer, Vasantha Yogananthan co-founded in 2014 the publishing house Chose Commune to publish Piémanson, a series on the last wild beach in France (2009-2013). He then moved onto the seven-book project A Myth of Two Souls (2013-2021) to explore the space between reality and fiction inspired by the epic Indian tale The Ramayana. The series he created in New Orleans, titled Mystery Street, was exhibited in 2023 at the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation (Paris) and the International Center of Photography (New York City). Le Passé Composé is the first series he is exhibiting from an ongoing long-term project he is working on in Provence titled Images Imaginaires (2020-ongoing).
