Ahlam Shibli
Born 1970 in Palestine.
Lives and works between Berlin, Germany and Palestine.
Through a documentary aesthetic, Ahlam Shibli's photographic work addresses the contradictory implications of the notion of home; it deals with the loss of home and the struggle against this loss, as well as the restrictions and limitations that the idea of home imposes on individuals and communities marked by repressive identity politics. Her work has been presented by the following institutions, among others: Seoul Museum of Art, Remai Modern, Documenta 12 & 14, SMAK, Carré d'Art, Zachęta, Henie Onstad, Muzeum Sztuki, MACBA, Jeu de Paume, Serralves, Reina Sofía, Haus der Kunst, Tate Modern, Darat al Funun, Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie, Centre Pompidou.
Ahlam Shibli work has been presented, since 2000, in solo and group exhibitions internationally.
