Gao BO
Born in Sezchaun, China, in 1964.
A graduate of the Academies of Fine Arts in Tsinghua and Beijing, Gao Bo also studied language and literature in France. He is a photographer and exhibition curator, and is involved in design and architecture. A member of the Chinese Society of Photographers, as well as a founding member and president of the China Heritage Society and of the VU agency in France, the artist publishes in the leading international magazines. Gao Bo won first prize in China's National Photography Contest in 1986, and a UNESCO-Germany award for the "world's most beautiful book".
Between 1996 and 2000, his exhibition Gao Bo Photo Tibet: 1933-1995 was shown in FNAC photo galleries around the world. In 2000 he took part in the Turin Biennial, the Paris Photo Exhibition and the Universal Exhibition in Hanover, Germany. In 2001, he exhibited at the Fotonoviembre international photography biennial in Tenerife, Spain; and in 2002 at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China.
Gao Bo presented his work at the Rencontres d'Arles in 2003, with his series Duality at the Magasin Electrique.
