William Klein
Born 1928, New York, United States. Lives and works in Paris, France.
In the 1950s William Klein revolutionised the canons of photographic representation—and he hasn’t stopped since. Photographer, but also painter, filmmaker, and graphic artist, his prolific oeuvre is characterised by a limitless formal energy and a vital energy that floods the lens. His books, including New York (1956), Rome (1958), Moscow (1964), Tokyo (1964), and Paris (2002), for which he did his own layouts, showcased a new sculptural vision which would have a lasting influence on international publishing.
