Heidi SPECKER

Born in 1962 in Damme, Germany.
Lives and works in Berlin.
After studying in Bielefeld and Leipzig with Prof. Joachim Brohm, she began showing her work in 1989 and since then has exhibited internationally. Her series Im Garten has been shown at Sprengel Museum Hannover, accompanied by a publication that received the book award Deutscher Fotobuchpreis in 2005. Heidi Specker gained numerous awards for her work, like the European Photography Award and the working grant from Kunstfonds Bonn. Her work has among others been shown at The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels; Haus der Fotografie, Moscow, Russia; Haus der Kunst, München; Fridericianum, Kassel, Germany; Museum Folkwang, Essen, Germany; Deichtorhallen Hamburg; Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin. Heidi Specker presented her work at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2007, nominated by Thomas Weski for the Discovery Award: In the garden, at the Atelier de Maintenance.
