Using still and moving images, Seamus Murphy documents life and its changes throughout the world. He is a seven-time World Press Photo award winner for his work in Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Gaza, Lebanon, Peru, Ireland, and England. His study of Afghanistan and the Afghans, pursued for over a decade, was published in A Darkness Visible: Afghanistan. His film adaptation of this book has won many awards. In 2011 he made twelve short films to accompany the PJ Harvey album Let England Shake.
