This documentary recounts the century in a chronological way through photographs and film extracts by Cartier-Bresson, while his voice comments on the events he witnessed.

Premiere screening produced by Cinétévé for Arte, with the Institut National de l’Audivisuel (INA).

A FINE CONCERN

Christian Milovanoff, photographer and teacher at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles since its inception, has played a major role in all the classes that have graduated during the school’s 30 years. Every evening at the Théâtre Antique, he will give a performance/critical lesson about different photographic genres, four stories that so preoccupy photographers: the portrait, classification, memory, words.

PRIX PICTET

Launched in 2008 by the Geneva-based private bank Pictet & Cie, the Prix Pictet has rapidly established itself as the world’s leading prize in photography and sustainability. Previous editions took Water, Earth and Growth as their themes, with Benoit Aquin, Nadav Kander and Mitch Epstein as the prize’s respective winners. The prize’s fourth theme will be Power. The Prix Pictet has two elements: the prize of CHF 100,000, and the Commission, in which a shortlisted photographer is invited to undertake a field trip to a region where the bank is supporting a sustainability project.

The list of nominees for this edition of the Prix Pictet is screened at the Théâtre Antique. Kofi Annan, the Prix Picter’s Honorary President, will reveal the name of the winner during the opening of the exhibition of the finalists at the Saatchi Gallery in London, October 9, 2012.
