On the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, ENSP presents a selection of works by graduates of the class of 2012; the only joint exhibition by graduates at the festival. The images shown contain within them the strengths inherent in the school's curriculum, and at the same time offer new pathways and resources for thinking about art, photography, the image and its future. ENSP is proud of the originality of its focus, as refined by the work of teachers who have never ceased to encourage a progressive awakening to every form of self-expression, nor to help individual students to find themselves within the immense panoply of possibilities offered them. As a result we find here, through the authors' works, a panorama of nascent creativity.
Here is what Christian Milovanoff, artist and instructor at the school, has to say about it: "No one should be surprised by the works' diversity: to the extent that the ENSP is a school of thought, it's one of individuality, not of formatting; every student is unique. Which doesn't mean that there is no common thread amongst them. Each in his or her own way takes on the big questions of genre, of autobiography, questions the territory and its borders, landscapes and their development, fiction and documentary".
