Clicks and Classes is a France-wide campaign aiming to increase young people's awareness of photography. Now in its ninth consecutive year, it is organised by the SCÉRÉN-CNDP–CRDP, a resources and publications service of the French Ministry of Education.
Inspired by the theme "Creating scenes", schools have been setting up projects, since the beginning of the school year, in which pupils' work is linked to that of artists. The project will continue throughout the 2011-12 academic year. Pupils from kindergarten to higher education, spend several weeks working with a photographer or a plastic artist.
Involving photographers in the pupils' process of creation gives an enormous boost to the artistic activities on the school curriculum. It also provides a marvellous opportunity for young people to understand everything a photographic image entails.
In 2012, twenty workshops are taking place across France.
A selection of their work will be displayed at Arles from 2 July-23 September in a special exhibition space.
Exhibition organised with the support of HSBC France.
