From 5 to 20 September 2013 - 10th edition
The programme and subscription form of Back To School With Images 2013 are available on the "programme and subscription" page.
Since its inception, “Back to School in Images” has grown steadily, all the while increasing the teaching ideas it has to offer. Nine French education authorities are now involved and 10,000 students are able to come with their teachers to experience part of the festival each year.
For the tenth consecutive year, the Rencontres is providing 330 classes, ranging from kindergarten to Masters level, with the opportunity to spend a day finding out about images in all their forms. A range of twelve different activities enables teachers to build their own interactive, multidisciplinary programmes with back-up from professional liaison staff. This project responds fully to the needs of teachers and to Ministry of Education guidelines.
“Back to School in Images” invites students to form their own opinions about the images they are surrounded by every day, while developing their curiosity and a critical attitude. The variety of themes dealt with in the exhibitions, the many ways in which they can be interpreted and the variety of genres on display are rich material for teachers to weave into their own teaching of the subject. Each year, students and teachers are given the tools they need to prepare their visit and to put the experience acquired in Arles to work, once they are back in the classroom.
