EXODUS

There are nouns that stand the test of time and keep on resonating. One is reminded of Otto Preminger’s film, which relates the odyssey of that mythical ship and the creation of Israel. But Hollywood has the unfortunate habit of tampering with history. The truth of this extraordinary adventure long seemed to have been stored away, buried, forgotten. The first-hand witnesses to this era were going to die without justice being done.

Some of those actually involved in the legendary crossing took photographs, which are unveiled here for the first time.

This exhibition is an invitation to go travelling, to go aboard one of the 20th century’s most famous ships. Jean-Michel Vecchiet establishes the factual timeline; and, in a precise and impassioned narrative, tells of the women and men who, 61 years ago, went on the Exodus.
