Cameron Smith - Untitled

Cameron Smith

These photographs are from a series of editorials I shot for TANK magazine. The original idea was to do a full length fashion shoot based on my personal internet blog. Having not shot for TANK previously, it was pretty bold on-their-part to commission a shoot, in a different country, based on a 21 year old’s blog. Thankfully it worked out and the mood of the blog translated to a fashion editorial well. It was so liked in fact that I ended up doing five consecutive editorials for TANK with the same theme, shooting models Tiah Eckhardt, Daul Kim, Georgia Frost, Iekeliene Stange and Milagros Schmoll. Every shoot was very spontaneous and so the models were more free to let loose and make contributions to the direction of the photos than usual.

Cameron Smith

Born in 1986 in Autstralia. Lives in Lane Cove.

First published in Tiny Vices, the provocative online photography gallery when he was 15, within a year Cameron Smith moved to Sydney and took up the position of photo editor at the then newly established Australian franchise of Vice magazine. Smith now divides his time between New York, Los Angeles, London and Sydney, and at the age of 22 has already photographed for Tank, Dazed & Confused and Vice amongst others. Often the same age as his subjects, for the past year one of Smith’s most accomplished projects has been photographing fashion’s leading supermodels, spending a week with them at home, at work and at play, capturing the exuberance of youth, his own and his subjects.
